How to increase CRS score

How to increase sales

There are lots of people looking to immigrate to Canada who want to improve their CRS score in order to make the cutoff for the periodically held government draws.

Language test results – The easiest and quickest way to improve your score is by the language test results. In the first official language test (English, French) if you get anything lower than CLB 9 you could be loosing up-to 50 points in total. 8 in listening and a 7 in Reading, Writing and Speaking is what a CLB level 9 would Break down to. Where as for the CELPIP it is a 9 out of 12 that you need in order to qualify for a CLB level 9.

Bilingual test results. You need to be proficient in both French and English. You will get extra points for your second official test. Adding the second official will give you close to 74 official extra points. If your second language is French you can get anywhere between 0-24 points in that section. An NCLC level 7 in French will as add substantial points to your application.

Being at an NCLC 4 or 5 will give you an extra 1 to 2 points. In order to get the extra 74 points you would need at least an NCLC level 7 on the approved French language test and in the English test you would require at least CLB 5 or higher. For the NCLC level 7 in French and CLB level 5 in English you will get at least 50 points in total. You will get 50 points for being bilingual and then 24 more points for the second official language score above CLB level 5. If you get CLB level 7 in your French test and CLB level 4 or lower in your second official language english you still get 24 points for being bilingual. The Canadian government is looking to get more people who are fluent in French so it will be beneficial to give the English test as well and get a decent score in order to increase your chances of getting into the draw.

Education – Having a second education degree will give you an extra 32 – 33 points depending on whether you are married or not.

The course can also be 6 months long in duration if it is from an accredited institution. It will basically be considered a 6 month certificate as long as it’s from an accredited institute. This will only be considered valid if the first qualification is 3 years in duration. If you have the time and the money you can do that second certification to add those 32 or 33 extra points.

Foreign Work Experience

As a FSW (Federal Skilled Worker) candidate depending on the number of years of skilled occupation whether 0,A or B can increase their score based on additional work experience. Between 1-2 years there will a certain score and 3 and up will give you a higher score. The CRS points system is different than the FSWP points system. In the CRS system the points you will get is one particular NOC code but 1 year must be full time equivalent in one occupation code. For example you have work experience in NOC code 1121 and then 3 years in another NOC Code 3241 , the CRS system will use all those year of work experience. In the FSWP points however you will get points for specific NOC codes. If you have the Canadian work experience then that will give you higher points

Offer of Employment
An LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) will need to be done. Depending on the skill level that is being offered, example 00 which is for senior management, director, Vice President levels it will add 200 points to the CRS score. Anything lower than that for example 0,A or B will only add 50 points. A written job offer or contract will not make a major impact on the score . An inter-company transfer will not give you points until you have worked in Canada for a year. You will have to go to Canada on a Work Permit, work in Canada for 1 year. Depending on your position it will be 50 or 200 points and to add that you will get points for your Canadian work experience.

Provincial Nomination
Each province in Canada will hand out certain nominations in a year that they can to individuals looking to enhance their CRS score. Most provinces however require a job offer but if you do not have a job offer then they will look at whether you have a degree from a Canadian educational institute. Most of the PNP require that you are already a part of the Express Entry System. The popular provinces providing PNP’s are Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. There is no specific list that the province has for picking candidates so it basically depends on the draw. With the PNP system just lower than the Federal score is the one that is targeted by the Provinces. Saskatchewan for example have their own scoring system and will choose candidates with non excluded job NOC codes. The PNP will add 600 points to your already existing profile and it will most likely ensure that you receive an ITA from the province. However you must prove that you have the intention to live and work in the province that decides to nominate you.

Brother/Sister (Sibling) residing in Canada.

  • They need to be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident and over the age of 18.
  • This will add 15 extra points to the points system
  • The sibling must be living in Canada
  • In the application proof of current residence in Canada must be provided
  • You can even get points for a step sibling or half sibling in Canada. That depends on the relationship of the parents if they are still married or not.
  • Documents need to be shown for the biological relationship
  • Siblings Birth certificate needs to be shown with the name of the parents on there
  • The marriage certificate of the parents needs to be shown in case of the step siblings
  • Copy of the Canadian citizenship card or certificate or the Canadian Passport or the permanent resident card will also be asked for in case of the siblings
  • A utility bill with the Canadian residence or address of the siblings will also be asked for as proof of residence
  • If the birth certificates are not available then DNA testing is another way to prove the relationships between siblings.

Spouse/ Common law partner English language assessment

  • The spouse or common law partner can get up-to 20 extra points by giving the English or French language assessment.
  • If the education has been done in Canada with the ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) then an additional 10 points will be added to the application.
  • The spouses can add up-to 30 points to the CRS

List yourself as Non Accompanying Spouse

  • You can choose to list yourself as a single applicant even though you would be married. This is in case the education that the spouse obtains will not help you to get additional points or if the English language score of the spouse is not up-to the required mark.
  • You will have to sponsor your family later under the family class

Study in Canada option

  • Once you finish your studies you will get a PGWP in Canada.
  • The work permit is valid for the same duration as the studies that you complete and can be issued up to a maximum of three years
  • 15 points are awarded for study in Canada
  • As long as the work in Canada is 30 hours per week and it is paid and it is skill level O, A or B this can add 35-40 extra points based on the personal background.
  • If you combine the points above this you can get up-to 50 or more extra points
  • The spouse of the student can also get an open work permit and gain valuable Canadian work experience and add points towards the PR application
  • If the employer is happy with the spouse then they can get a permanent job offer and add points towards the provincial nomination program(PNP)
  • The spouse can also become the primary applicant and the husband will become the secondary applicant in that case.
  • As a student one can work up-to 20 hours a week full time during regular study periods and full time during the school holidays.

Canadian Work Experience

  • If you have a 1 full year work experience in Canada depending on whether you are single or married , 35-40 extra points can be scored.
  • Points for skill transferability will also be given depending on the background.
  • You won’t get any points if you work in NOC codes C or D.
  • You can work for as many NOC codes(O,A or B) as you want but the total must accumulate to 1 year.

Self employment will not contribute towards your scores. If you were in Canada as a business owner or entrepreneur then no points will be given to you.

Our consultants will help evaluate your eligibility and present you with the best possible options of immigrating to Canada. Try to increase your CRS scores based on the pointed mentioned above and qualify for the Express Entry or provincial nomination draws.
