  • Reside anywhere – live work and study anywhere in Canada after you get your PR
  • Cheaper Education–Education will be much cheaper than international rates once you become a resident.
  • Social Benefits – Most benefits are same as that of a Canadian citizen Free healthcare, education and free transport to the schools etc .The only thing you cannot do as a Canadian citizen is vote.
  • Sponsor your family – Sponsor parents, children, grandparents and spouse .PGP sponsorship (Parents and grandparents can get the PR very easily). The spouse and children will gain points from you being a PR holder as well.
  • Buying your first home – regularly you need to pay 20% as down payment of your house but as a first time buyer you need to pay only 5 % , the rest is subsidized by the government . The 15% is a loan so make sure that you don’t have enough savings in your bank account, just make sure you have a good credit score and earning potential to pay off the loans. The loan amount for 15% will have the same interest rate that the bank gives you so you don’t have to worry about hidden charges or different percentages. If you are on your work permit or temporary resident visa then you will have to pay 20% as down payment.
  • Free Healthcare – Till you are admitted in the hospital the medication is free , once you are discharged you need to pay. Dental and Eyecare are the two aspects not covered in healthcare. Most employers offer dental and eye care benefits. Tooth filling is about $300, root canal is $800, regular checkup is $150 CAD in total.
  • Benefits for new Parents – You only need to pay for the fare from home to hospital and parking fees. Rest all is taken care of. A nurse will be allotted just for you for the newborn child .
  • Paternity/Maternity leave – The government will pay you every month . The amount is 55% of the maximum salary you earn . You will get this amount for an entire year. You can split .
  • How much leave will you actually get – you will get a year off, usually the spouse will get 9 months off and the husband will get 3 months off.
  • Employment insurance payouts – The government will pay out $595 a week and you will get a total of 2400 a month. The employment insurance was a huge blessing to PR holders who lost their jobs during COVID19 Depending on the unemployment rate in your province you can get this 55% insurance from 14 weeks all the way till 55 weeks. Moving to another province after the benefit period has begun will not change the number of weeks you are eligible for.
  • Free Education – The education for PR and Canadian citizens is completely free from kindergarten all the way till high school
  • High Quality Education – The quality of education even in public schools is of the highest standard. Many schools even have free transport services to and from school
  • Easy Business Setup– Easier to setup your business or startup if you are a PR holder in Canada – The banks will also help you based on your business plans and structure. The registration will take you less than 5 minutes and your business license will be mailed to you in another 5 minutes. There are not a lot of business restrictions in Canada.
  • Express travel at the airport – You have a different line for the PR and this will take less than 10 minutes to clear
  • Clean Environment– Breathe clean air due to modern environmental policies, expanding cities, low pollution levels.

Once you become a Citizen

Over 80 % of the Canadian Permanent Residents apply for citizenship once they are eligible

There are many reasons why many people go in for the Canadian citizenship :

Maintaining citizenship

After obtaining Canadian citizenship, one doesn’t have to do much to retain it. It will be difficult to loose your citizenship following the reforms made by the Trudeau government in 2017.

Travel Rights

Most countries do not require Canadians to obtain a visa in order to enter. The list includes countries such as the UK, USA and Schengen countries.

According to Henley and Passport Index 2021, Canada has the ninth most powerful passport in the world.

With a Canadian passport, you can enter, stay, and leave Canada.

Child Benefits

Citizens of Canada have the option of passing on their citizenship to their children after they die. Children born outside of Canada can have their parens citizenship transferred to them.

Job opportunities

Highly sensitive positions in the government or security can be given to Canadian citizens and mostly not to anyone other than them.

Political aspirations

As a citizen one can vote as well as run for the federal parliament. You don’t need to be born a citizen to hold a high designation in the government. Citizenship is required to fully participate in the democratic process in Canada.

Dual citizenship

Canada allows dual citizenship. This means that one can become a citizen of Canada while retaining other citizenships as well.

There are some of the numerous benefits that that being an Canadian PR had to offer. Making Canada your new home will certainly help you in many ways and will put you overall in a better position than where you currently reside. Get in touch with one of our our consultant and get the best residency options available to you. The rules and regulations keep changing so act now and make a decision that you will cherish forever and never  regret.
